Change in Opening Hours

To allow staff time to complete essential clinical administrative tasks, we are altering the opening hours of the surgery.

The building will now open at 09:00.

The phones will still be monitored from 08:30 to 09:00. However, this is only for medical emergencies. For all other matters such as appointments, prescriptions, results etc, please phone between 09:00-18:00. Please note that the surgery uses a door entry system. Please use the intercom button to the right of the entrance to speak to the reception team.

Right Care Right Place

We are sure that everyone is aware that the NHS is under a great deal of pressure at present. Please visit the NHS inform page HERE for extremely useful advice on how best to access NHS services. It also includes advice about contacting NHS services if English is not your first language.

Telephones

Please note that all calls to the surgery will be recorded for security and training purposes.

Scarlet Fever and Group A Strep

There has been a great deal of public concern about the rise in the number of Scarlet Fever cases in recent months. NHS inform have a very informative page about this condition at the following link: NHS inform Scarlet Fever

A very useful information sheet about Group A Strep and Scarlet Fever, written by a Greater Glasgow & Clyde Consultant Paediatrician, can be downloaded here: Group A Strep information

Face Masks

Following a review, the Cabinet Secretary for NHS Recovery, Health and Social Care and the Minister for Social Care, Mental Wellbeing and Sport have agreed to withdraw the ‘Coronavirus (COVID-19): use of face coverings in social care settings including adult care homes’ guidance and the ‘Coronavirus (COVID-19): extended use of face masks and face coverings in hospitals, primary care and community healthcare settings’ guidance.
This guidance will be withdrawn on 16 May 2023.
This means that face masks will no longer be routinely worn by staff, patients and visitors. However, for infection control purposes, there may still be some situations where staff will wear a mask and ask patients or visitors to wear one. Temperature checks at the door will continue.

Flu Immunisation

The immunisations are now being organised by GGC Health Board and administered at central clinics. All eligible patients will receive an appointment letter from GGCHB. A helpline number will be on the letter. Please do not phone the Practice about these vaccination arrangements.

Acceptable Behaviour

There have been increasing incidences of hostility towards practice teams and we would like to stress that any form of violence and aggression, including verbal hostility towards staff is completely unacceptable. Please think before you speak or act. We operate a zero tolerance policy. If you are abusive you will be asked to find another GP practice.

Demand for access to GP’s across Greater Glasgow and Clyde is exceptional at present.  This practice is no different, please keep this in mind when dealing with the practice. Thank you for your co-operation and patience at this time.

Covid-19 Vaccination

Covid-19 vaccinations will NOT be administered by GP practices. They will be given at Health Board central clinics. Appointment letters will be sent direct to these patients. Housebound patients will have their vaccinations administered at home by Health Board staff under similar arrangements to the first doses.

NHS Scotland recommends having a spring booster this year if you:

  • Are aged 75 or over (by 30th June 2023)
  • Live in a care home for older adults
  • Are aged 5 years or over(by 1st April 2023) and have a weakened immune system

NHS Scotland will contact you about your appointment or with information on how to book. Please wait to be contacted.

More information and the link to the online booking portal is available here: NHS Inform Spring Booster

We cannot assist with enquiries about immunisation for these groups or when they will be invited for immunisation, so please do not phone the practice about this.

  • Please do not contact the surgery to ask for a Covid vaccination passport or status certificate – we will not be able to provide any standard document. If you require a Covid Vaccination certificate, go to https://www.nhsinform.scot/covid19status or call 0808 196 8565 if you cannot go online.

Video Consultation

We now have the facility for webcam video consultation. This, of course, may be very useful during the current pandemic situation.

Instructions on use are contained in this downloadable document Attend Anywhere.

Please speak to reception before starting a video call.

Clinical Photographs

For many problems, you may not need to see a doctor face to face. For example, for things such as rashes or moles, it may be that the doctor can carry out a thorough assessment simply by seeing a picture. For some problems therefore, a doctor or nurse may ask that you email a picture to us- provided of course you are happy to do this.

 If you have been asked to send a clinical photograph, you will be asked for your consent for the photo to be received and looked at by the clinical team. If you consent to this, it will be documented in your notes. You can then email it to;

GGC.GP52217images@nhs.scot

Please mark the subject line of your email as “PHOTO; your name and date of birth’. It helps us greatly if the photos received are not too large, so if given the option to choose the size of the picture, please select small - not ‘actual size’! Please send no more than 3 photos, and remember to ensure information about what area of the body is added. It may be useful, if possible, to include another object (e.g. a coin) to give an idea of size.

Your photo will be handled by a member of our clinical team. It will be saved securely to your medical file, and then immediately deleted from our email server. It will not be stored anywhere within the practice computer systems.

A doctor will then contact you to discuss your photograph.

Please do not send photos without discussing it with a member of the practice team first.

Please do not send photos of intimate images (genitalia, anus and breasts) of children under 18 or of those who lack capacity.

Physiotherapy Services

Many muscular or skeletal conditions are best dealt with by a physiotherapist, rather than a GP. For more information on physiotherapy services, please see this link: NHSGGC Physio Services

You can refer yourself directly by filling in their Self referral Form if you live within Greater Glasgow and Clyde. If you prefer, you can use the online self-referral form, which can be found at: On-line GG&C Physio referral

Please deliver or post your completed form to your Local Physiotherapy Department.

Paper copies are also available from your local physiotherapy department or GP surgery.

Contact Details

Please help us to keep your contact details up-to-date. Whenever you contact the surgery, please check that we have the correct address and telephone number for you. A current email address can also be very helpful.
